I sometimes participate in science events and one-day masterclasses on subjects that affect us all and help to explain the world around us.
Quantum 2023: From Foundations of Quantum Mechanics to Quantum Information and Quantum Metrology & Sensing
September 10th to 15th, 2023
Quantum 2023 will be the 10th edition of this international conference attended by researchers coming from all over the world.
I will be attending and participating in this event, the aim of which is to exchange ideas and discussion on the latest results among leading physicists working in the interconnected fields of Quantum Metrology - Sensing & Imaging, Quantum Information and Foundations of Quantum Mechanics, in particular in the framework of quantum optics.
Quantum Entanglement and Reality: The World Exists Only When It Is Not Observed
South Kensington Campus, Imperial College London
18th January 2024 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
In this in-person lecture I will be discussing quantum entanglement, which is the key phenomenon behind all the bizarre features of quantum physics.
The two mind-blowing consequences of entanglement can be summarized in two simple catchphrases: “unperformed measurements have no outcomes” and “unobserved outcomes can affect future measurements”.
The lecture will start at 7:00 pm and, following audience Q&A, finish around 8:30 pm. Drinks, networking with fellow Friends and the speaker will then be available with the event closing around 8.45 pm.
Quantum Tunnelling and Energy Conservation Whodunit
I’m back in a less angry mode and would like to tell you about a topic that I revisited with some friends and colleagues last week. We met in the beautiful Piedmont’s village of Cocconato for three days and – over some cheese and (a copious amount of) wine – debated a number of fundamental aspects of quantum physics.

I am a bit fed up with some stuff I keep hearing about and I’d like to get things off my chest. I apologise in advance for the seemingly angry tone of this blog, but I just feel compelled to write about it.
